Bashkortostan seeks deeper economic integration with Belarus
Speaking about the results of the business mission to Belarus, Radiy Khabirov said that a number of agreements were signed. “We visited very famous Belarusian company AMKODOR that manufactures municipal, road construction and forestry equipment. When forming the budget for next year, we have already included in it resources to buy municipal equipment and road construction equipment. We are going to work with AMKODOR,” the head of the republic said.
In his words, the equipment needs to be serviced as well. “These are service centers. We need major repairs, and so on. That is why I suggested a deeper integration of our enterprises. Especially since there is a mutual will, mutual benefit and desire. The most important thing is that we have a very long experience of such relations,” Radiy Khabirov added.
Bashkortostan is in need of caterpillar tractors. “We need caterpillar tractors now. We have already had talks with representatives of a number of enterprises, and we will gradually launch the assembly of caterpillar tractors," said Radiy Khabirov.
Other promising areas include cooperation in deep processing of grain. "There were very interesting contacts, as we brought our specialists, who supervise agriculture, with the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Achievements in agriculture, scientific proposals are also of interest to us. We have come up with a proposal to the president and the prime minister to look for partners in deep processing of grain, which is an ambitious project,” the head of Bashkortostan said.
The republic is also interested in joint assembly of passenger vehicles. “This year we have signed an offset agreement to supply trolleybuses for Ufa. We took a look at electric buses. It is an interesting project. Our colleagues looked at your trams as well,” Radiy Khabirov said, adding that “everything should be considered in the context of assembly production, which means both Belarus and Bashkortostan profit”.
According to the head of Bashkortostan, Belarus' economy has been actively developing even in such difficult conditions. As far as bilateral cooperation is concerned, he stressed that there are all the conditions for a considerable increase in mutual trade. “It is very good even now - nearly $300 million, despite the difficult situation you are in, the political pressure on your economy. Nevertheless, our common desire is to increase mutual trade. We have all the opportunities for that, and the main thing is the will and the right organization of work,” he said.
Radiy Khabirov added that after his meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko a big meeting featuring the industry ministers and the prime minister took place to work out possible cooperation in each area: agriculture, machine building, machine tools and construction. “We compiled a protocol which we will use to move forward,” he said.
