MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus may serve as an effective economic bridge between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), head of the representation of German economy in Belarus Vladimir Avgustinsky said during the meeting of the working group “Transport, Logistics, Customs” on 7 October, BelTA has learned.
“We have gathered to discuss the current issues of cooperation between Belarus and Germany in transportation and logistics. Belarus has a very favorable geo-economic location. This country can perform the role of an effective economic bridge between the EU and the EEU, between the West and the East,” Vladimir Avgustinsky stressed.
The working group “Transport, Logistics, Customs" at the representation of German economy in Belarus was set up in October 2013. The working group gathered for the third meeting which became one of the activities of the Belarusian Transport Week. The participants of the meeting discussed important issues of bilateral cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, the potential of Belarusian Railways in providing freight transport services on the route China-Europe-China, road cargo transportation in Belarus, and the latest changes in the customs legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Belarusian Transport Week will finish on 8 October. The forum includes such international exhibitions as Transport & Logistics 2015, Logistic Engineering 2015, Transport Infrastructure 2015 and the 9th Belarusian Transport and Logistics Congress. This year, the expos feature the products and services from more than 200 companies from Austria, Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and other European countries
