MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – It is important to promptly communicate objective information about the situation around Belarus to the international parliamentary community, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at a meeting of the sixth session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“It is very important to promptly communicate objective information about the situation around Belarus to the international parliamentary community. We have such an opportunity, because online events are held almost every week,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
According to him, MPs need to focus their efforts on promising investment, trade and economic projects, diversification of sales markets for domestic products and technologies. “This is the main task for parliamentary friendship groups. The recent visit of the Indonesian parliamentary delegation is a vivid example of how these friendship groups can facilitate cooperation if they organize the work properly,” the speaker said. “In 2020 Indonesia became the fourth strategic market for Belarusian potassium chloride and plans to increase its import. This country is interested in purchasing our automotive vehicles and setting up joint ventures that can sell their products to other countries of Southeast Asia.”
Vladimir Andreichenko stressed that the MPs of the two countries largely contributed to the achievement of these agreements. "We need to monitor their implementation," he added. “I have just met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Pham Hai. He confirmed that the newly-elect Vietnamese parliament will resume the work of the friendship group with Belarus. The working group on cooperation with Vietnam in the National Assembly of Belarus should thoroughly prepare for an upcoming joint meeting of the inter-parliamentary cooperation groups of Belarus and Vietnam. We should update the agenda for our further cooperation both in the bilateral format and at international platforms,” he said.
The speaker added that the Belarusian-Turkish parliamentary group has good prospects today. “Following the latest meetings with the Turkish MPs and representatives of the Turkish business a decision was made to hold the Belarusian-Turkish investment forum. Joint proposals have also been prepared for consideration at the meeting of the intergovernmental group. The meeting is scheduled for early December 2021. The Standing Commission on International Affairs needs to take the implementation of existing projects in this field under control. Next week members of the parliamentary group for Belarusians Abroad are set to meet with representatives of the Belarusian diaspora to mark the Year of People’s Unity. The meeting will contribute to the consolidation of the Belarusian society, the preservation of the historical truth and the strengthening of comprehensive cooperation,” he added.
