MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - We have to use the global demand for food to develop our export potential, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at the opening of the eighth session of the House of Representatives of the seventh convocation on 15 March, BelTA has learned.
“The permanent growth of food prices proves that the global demand for food will stay high in the near future. We need to use this situation to unlock the export potential of our country as one of the largest agricultural producers. I am addressing the heads of the parliamentary groups of friendship to supervise these issues,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
According to him, Belarus should focus on the promotion of domestic goods in the markets of Russia and China. “All conditions for this have been created within the framework of the agreements on the Union State, as well as the directive on the development of bilateral relations with China. We need to strengthen contacts with our traditional partners in the CIS and the EAEU, the countries of South-East Asia, the Middle East. We also need to work out the prospects for implementing agreements reached on the sidelines of the 36th Assembly of the Latin American Parliament, held in Panama in February 2022. In particular, we are talking about the possibility of signing an agreement on cooperation between the National Assembly of Belarus and the Mercosur Parliament,” he said.
