GOMEL, 25 May (BelTA) - Sudan is confident in high quality of Belarusian farm machines, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Republic of Belarus Mohammed Omer Musa Ali told the media on the sidelines of the 24th edition of the Spring in Gomel expo, BelTA has learned.
The ambassador noted that Sudan and Belarus are very similar as agriculture is an important sector of the economies of the countries. The share of this industry is 30-40% in the structure of Sudan's income. "Therefore, we maintain close cooperation in agriculture. This applies to equipment, fertilizers, and seeds," the diplomat said.
"We work with large Belarusian mechanical engineering companies: Minsk Tractor Works and Gomselmash. For example, Sudan uses Gomselmash harvesters that have proven their worth. We will continue our cooperation. We are confident in high quality of Belarusian farm machines," the Sudanese ambassador said.
The ambassador said that during the visit to Gomel he is planning to tour other enterprises of the city.
Developments in the Belarusian agricultural sector, in particular training of personnel for agriculture are of interest to Zimbabwe. The delegation of that country visited two colleges: Zhlobin Technological college and Gomel Agrarian and Technical College. "The educational potential of colleges is quite large. We are interested in establishing cooperation between the agrarian educational institutions of Zimbabwe and the Gomel region," said Dr Jotamu Dondofema, Director of the Department of Agricultural Education at the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, Climate and Rural Development of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The Spring in Gomel expo is running on 25-28 May. This year the event has brought together representatives of Belarus and 14 countries.
