MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – China is ready to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Belarusian partners in e-commerce and to increase purchases from Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said in an interview with BelTA.
"We are ready to take numerous measures to facilitate trade, ensure uninterrupted logistics of cross-border e-commerce and give a new impetus to trade between the two countries," the diplomat said.
"Belarusian food products supplied to China are known for their environmental friendliness and high quality. Dairy products and chocolate are especially popular among Chinese consumers. According to Chinese statistics, in 2022 China imported various agricultural products from Belarus worth $649 million, which was up by 51.59% a year prior."
The ambassador also said: "From the point of view of the scale of the Chinese economy and market, Chinese-Belarusian trade still has a great potential, and the expansion of imports of high-quality products from Belarus meets the interests of both sides."
Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong expressed hope that Belarusian manufacturing enterprises will continue to work on the recognition of their brands in China, to improve the quality and level of supply of products and services, effectively use various exhibition venues to increase the visibility of Belarusian products, provide Chinese consumers with more convenient shopping opportunities and more affordable prices and a wider assortment.
In July 2022, Belarus launched the national pavilion on Jingdong and Douyin, the well-known e-commerce platforms in China, and received a good feedback. In 2022, the total volume of sales through the national pavilion reached 8.93 million yuan. Its page on the Douyin platform has almost 740,000 subscribers and gained more than 4 million likes.
This year Belarus will launch the national pavilion on seven new e-commerce sites in China this year, the ambassador informed.
