SAMARKAND, 5 December (BelTA) - Belarusian producers need to take a more aggressive position on the market of Uzbekistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich told the media, BelTA has learned.
According to Leonid Marinich, some 700,000 children are born in Uzbekistan every year (it is a very big number), that is why baby food and dairy products of high quality produced in Belarus are in great demand here.
“I would like to say to our producers of baby food and high-quality dairy products: come here, your goods will be in demand,” the ambassador said.
Leonid Marinich called the supply of meat products another top area of cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan. According to the ambassador, products of Belarusian producers, especially beef, are in demand here.
“The recent edition of Uzprodexpo 2023, held just three weeks ago, showed that our finished meat products, sausages, smoked meats (the market is specific, rules out pork in products) are very much in demand. Everyone who came to our stand liked our products very much. I see that finished products should conquer this market, and we should not take a wait-and-see attitude, but, in my opinion, we should take a more aggressive stance, show ourselves, take part in all exhibitions, hold promotional events, and then we will get new customers,” the ambassador said.
“Where do I see the prospects? I believe we need to bring investment here, build joint ventures to produce agricultural products (dairy, meat processing enterprises), as we have in our country. We need to take an integrated approach, from farms to store shelves. This approach is just starting to develop in Uzbekistan, and I see the future of our producers and our trade in this,” he said.
Leonid Marinich believes that it is necessary to develop associations of joint ventures in Belarus, which would include both producers and suppliers. This will make it possible to work more efficiently, as with such associations developed, “there will be no competitors for us in the market”, Leonid Marinich emphasized.
Another area of cooperation is the mechanical engineering sector. Here, according to the ambassador, it is also important to competently build steps for the implementation of various projects.
“Here I see a great future, but, again, not only on the buy and sell principle but through the development of joint ventures, production facilities. Today the policy in Uzbekistan is as follows: if you come with a proposal to make a joint product, all doors are open to you in all ministries, agencies, trade networks and equipment sales bases,” Leonid Marinich said.
Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats held talks with Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev in Samarkand on 5 December.
“We have achieved certain results in our joint work, but there is every reason to improve these results,” the deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan emphasized his readiness to strengthen interaction with Belarus.
According to Leonid Zayats, the Belarusian delegation is ready to fill the roadmaps with new projects that could bring the Belarus-Uzbekistan relations to a new level.
Today is the second day of the working visit of the Belarusian government delegation, headed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, to Uzbekistan. Samarkand is hosting a meeting of Belarus-Uzbekistan joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation. The Uzbek-Belarusian business forum will open in the second half of the day.
