The interviewermentioned Russia’s program to build its nuclear fleet, icebreakers in particular, to ensure uninterrupted cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route (NSR). Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi was asked whether Belarus has the necessary competencies to join such large-scale projects.

"We are considering, among other things, joining the program to build the nuclearfeet that will ensure efficient navigation in severe weather," said the ambassador.

Ambassador Dmitry Krutoiexpressed confidence that the theme of NSR will get off ground in short order as China hasshown interest in this route."China is now testing out this route, in particular Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and other ports on the NSR. We see that the number of requests for cargo transportation to China via this routegrows rapidlyevery year.
