MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – As one of the world’s leading producers of potash fertilizers, Belarus will help India maintain its food security, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik said as he spoke at a festive event to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of India and the Republic of Belarus on 13 April, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Aleinik welcomed the rapidly growing trade between the two countries. In 2021 it exceeded $550 million. “Belarusian mining dump trucks BelAZ and tractors Belarus have proven their efficiency in India. As a global producer of potash fertilizers, Belarus remains India’s reliable partner in ensuring the country’s food security,” he said.
The first deputy foreign minister stressed that the Belarus-India intergovernmental commission for cooperation in economy, trade, industry, science, technology and culture is an effective tool to coordinate bilateral contacts. The commission has already convened 10 times.
Business contacts between Belarus and India are also vibrant. They make a meaningful contribution to the governments’ efforts to promote cooperation in trade, economy and investment. Today Belarus is implementing three significant investment projects in pharmaceutics in collaboration with India.
