MOSCOW, 29 March (BelTA) – Aide to the Russian President Andrei Fursenko spoke about the priorities of Belarus-Russia scientific cooperation at the expert and mass media forum “Union State. Scientific breakthrough”, BelTA has learned.
“Today, science is one of the things that shape the future,” Andrei Fursenko emphasized. “It has an impact on the quality of life of our people, our security and, in a broader sense, on our future.”
In this regard, great prospects are opening up in those areas of Russia-Belarus relations where potential has not been utilized to the fullest.
“Work in microelectronics and photonics is yielding good results. These are critical things, the actual infrastructure of our development and the foundation for our work in the field of artificial intelligence,” noted Andrei Fursenko. “This concerns the quality of life of each person: healthcare, food, environment that is also developing successfully. This also includes joint research related to climate change, as well as social studies and humanities.”
The aide to the Russian president said that Belarusians and Russians hail from one country and one world.
“Although we differ, our key views and values coincide in many ways,” he continued. “I think it is important for us to pay great attention to these issues.”
He also spoke about investments in science by the government and business.
“We have businesses that are interested in and invest money in fundamental research, but first of all this is the responsibility of the government. If we talk about applied research and economic development, business plays an important role here as a qualified customer that can articulate the task and, together with scientists, direct this research,” he emphasized.
