Agreements on selling Belarusian food reached during Gulfood expo in Dubai

MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Agreements on selling Belarusian products were reached during the international expo of agricultural products, food, and beverages Gulfood 2018 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, BelTA learned from representatives of the BelInterExpo enterprise of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Kalinkovichi Dairy Plant has contracted to sell 150 tonnes of full cream powder to Nepal. As much as 300 tonnes of butter is expected to be shipped to Uzbekistan and Turkey.

Products made by the Volkovysk-based company Bellakt for babies and mothers were in demand during the expo. The product range included milk formulas, juices, purees for children, and dry milk products with high protein and vitamin content. Businessmen from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and Afghanistan showed strong interest.

Turkish businessmen suggested that the Slonim-based meat-packing plant should open a representative office in Turkmenistan. Visitors of the expo also showed interest in fish and sea food products made by Santa Bremor. Potential partners from Pakistan, India, and Morocco, businessmen from Serbia, France, and Spain were seriously interested in them.

A number of Belarusian food companies, including Bellakt, Santa Bremor, Primemilk, Servolux Agro, Krasny Pischevik, were represented during the expo.

Gulfood is one of the world’s top three annual food expos. The expo is popular with food producers and food traders of the entire world largely thanks to the fact that the United Arab Emirates is a key node for re-exporting food products in the Persian Gulf region.

This year’s expo has gathered over 5,000 companies from 120 countries, including Australia, the UK, Vietnam, Germany, India, Cyprus, China, Singapore, the USA, Russia, Finland, and Japan. The number of visitors is expected to exceed 95,000 people.

The exposition of Belarusian foods was arranged by the exhibition enterprise BelInterExpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with assistance of the Embassy of Belarus in the UAE and the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
