MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarus and China have discussed the advancement of cooperation in military affairs, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
A Chinese military delegation is in Belarus on a visit on 17-22 May. The delegation is led by Colonel-General Zhang Youxia, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, member of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China, Chief of the Equipment Development Department of China’s Central Military Commission.
While in Belarus, the Chinese delegation will attend the eighth international defense technology expo MILEX 2017.
On 18 May Belarusian Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Andrei Ravkov met with the head of the Chinese delegation. Belarusian Deputy Defense Minister for Armament, Chief of Armament, Major-General Igor Lotenkov met with members of the Chinese delegation the same day. Representatives of Belarus and China discussed ways and methods of future advancement of bilateral interaction in military affairs and military and technical affairs.
While in Belarus, members of the Chinese delegation are also expected to meet with Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulev and visit a number of defense companies.
