3D printing, nuclear medicine, information technologies in Belarus-Rosatom cooperation program
MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – Stanislav Levitsky, director of Rosatom’s country office in Belarus, talked to reporters about what a complex program on cooperation with Belarus is supposed to include. The information was released during the 27th Belarusian energy and ecology forum Energy Expo, BelTA has learned.
Stanislav Levitsky said: “Together with the Belarusian side we have prepared a large strategic document – a complex program to guide cooperation in a number of avenues. Those are additive technologies, nuclear medicine, digitization, and many other ones. The program will be adopted soon and its implementation will begin. The planning horizon starts at the beginning of this year and goes all the way to the 2030s. The program provides for introducing innovative solutions and for investment activity in Belarus’ territory, for setting up joint manufacturing enterprises. We look into the future with joy and are confident that this strategic document will lay a solid foundation for cooperation.”
Rosatom is now busy stepping up work in over 90 cooperation avenues. “As for specific programs with Belarus, one of them provides for creating a republican center for additive technologies with public access. We’ve initiated sending the relevant query to the Belarusian government. Methodical work has begun. A roadmap is about to be signed. It provides for setting up an innovative center for 3D metal printing as a joint venture in Belarus’ territory by the end of next year. 3D printing will allow us to extremely fast replace components in view of existing restrictions in addition to expediting scientific research and R&D work,” the director of Rosatom’s country office in Belarus noted.
As for nuclear medicine, the realization of a program to create an innovative radiopharmaceutical agent is about to begin. A Belarusian organization will be invited to test it and help work out the industrial manufacturing technology. “We will take care of partial manufacturing localization and possibly the creation of a new lineup of medical equipment, which will be designed at the expense of the budget of the Union State of Belarus and Russia,” Stanislav Levitsky noted.
“As for digitization, we offer free licenses to Belarusian higher education institutions. Paperwork is being done to grant an export license for an innovative software suite that focuses on math modeling. We are ready to offer it. In the future we intend to set up Rosatom’s development centers here and invite Belarusian IT developers to work with us and make joint products,” the executive said.
Electric transport is another promising area. “We are now implementing the project to create the Atom electric vehicle. We intend to discuss Belarus’ involvement in this project soon. Individual organizations, ministries, and government agencies of Belarus will be invited to participate. We are interested in seeing the country as our full-scale partner for manufacturing components, organizing joint retail chains,” Stanislav Levitsky said. “Apart from that, Rosatom is now building a gigafactory to make energy storage systems in Kaliningrad Oblast. Our complex program mentions possible future realization of an investment project to build a gigafactory in Belarus’ territory. But only if it is profitable both for the Belarusian side and Rosatom.”
The Belarusian energy and ecology forum Energy Expo is one of the largest specialized exhibition events. It is organized every year with a view to developing the innovation potential of the fuel and energy complex. The forum brings together industry-specific organizations and leading producers of equipment and technologies for power engineering industry and allied trades. This year they traditionally present innovative projects and cutting-edge solutions for electric energy industry, gas industry, energy- and resource-saving technologies, digital development, and ecology.
A number of specialized exhibitions have been organized: “Energy. Ecology. Energy Saving. Electro”, Green INDUSTRY, eTRANS salon of innovative transport, OIL & GAS Technologies, Atomexpo-Belarus, Expolight, Water and Air Technologies, ExpoCity.
The business program of the forum includes research-to-practice conferences, roundtable sessions, and seminars, including seminars on nuclear energy, training and retraining of engineering personnel, the development of electric transport, use of local fuels. The forum will also feature the Youth Day event that will offer school students, university students, and young professionals an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest achievements of the industry.
