MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - Belarus is vitally important for China, Chinese former Ambassador to Belarus, Vice President of the China Foundation for International Studies Doctor of Historical Sciences Yu Zhenqi said at the presentation of the book, Belarus Through the Eyes of Chinese Diplomats, in Beijing, BelTA learned from the organizers.
Yu Zhenqi has spent many years working in Belarus and considers the country its second home. At the presentation that was hosted at the Beijing Second Foreign Languages Institute to mark the 25th anniversary of the Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations, he noted: “We together with my counterparts made this book about Belarus with a view to tell as much as we could about this wonderful country and its people. Strengthening relations between our peoples is of great importance,” the former Ambassador stressed.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy, for his part, pointed to the importance of the forthcoming anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. He added that Belarus and China has achieved a lot in bilateral cooperation.
The book includes recollections of 19 Chinese diplomats who worked in Minsk in different times. They share with readers their impressions about the history and culture of Belarus, their vision of the country’s development, cooperation results and sincere friendship between the two nations.
The publication of the book was organized by the China Foundation for International Studies. Yu Zhenqi served as the main collector of information for the book, while the editor in chief was researcher of the China Foundation for International Studies, Deputy Head of the Russian Studies Center at Renmin University of China Wang Xianju, who also worked in Minsk some time ago. The book was published by Xinhua Publishing House.
Vice President of the China Foundation for International Studies Yu Zhenqi was the initiator of the book, China Through the Eyes of Belarusians, which was published in Minsk in 2012 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Belarusian-Chinese relations. The book was translated into Chinese in Beijing.
