MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – The European Union is ready for talks with Belarus on visa facilitation and readmission, head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin told the media on 12 September, BelTA has learned.
“The date is not known yet [the talks are scheduled to take place in Brussels in September]. As far as I know, we are waiting for the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are ready for the talks,” Andrea Wiktorin said.
The negotiations on visa facilitation and readmission were formally launched in January 2014. The last meeting was held in Minsk in 2017. When concluded, the agreements will make the process of issuing EU short-stay visas to Belarusian citizens easier and cheaper, as well as improve the readmission of own-nationals who have no right to stay on EU territory.
