MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) - The most precious thing today is peace, and we must do our utmost to preserve it, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich told journalists on Independence Day, BelTA has learned.
"This is the main holiday of our statehood, independence and sovereignty and the main values that are enshrined in the Constitution and in the draft National Security Concept. Maintaining peace and security is the most important task for the national security system today," Aleksandr Volfovich noted.
He also stressed the importance of preserving the historical memory and achievements of war veterans. "This is the main task for any citizen of Belarus. From the president to a school first-grader," Aleksandr Volfovich said.
"The military and political situation has reached the boiling point. The entire architecture of international and regional security collapsed overnight. Today, the USA, the collective West, do not reckon with anything. Sanctions, military buildup, militarization... even to the detriment of their economic interests. We are concerned over all of this and most of all with the information against us. There is a struggle for people's minds. Therefore it is very important to preserve the historical memory. If we preserve the right spirit, the spirit and strength of our grandfathers, our people will be invincible. Everyone should do their job and thus contribute to the security of our country. The most precious thing is peace today. We must do our utmost to preserve it," Aleksandr Volfovich noted.
