MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The world is systematically turning into a global confrontation area. Military conflicts are becoming hybrid at the strategic level. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich made the statement as the international security industry expo “International security. Belarus 2024” opened, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich said: “Over the two years since the previous expo the geopolitical situation on our planet has not become more stable and predictable. Over 25 military conflicts were started or continued on various continents last year alone. The world is systematically turning into a global confrontation area. Not a single country or nation on the planet can feel absolutely secure.”
The official stressed that the hybridization of military conflicts is taking place at the strategic level. Information and psychological warfare, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies are intensively used to interfere in internal affairs of states, provoke armed conflicts under the pretense of democratization and fight for human rights.
“The nuclear and biological agenda is becoming more and more topical. Measures to maintain constant combat readiness of strategic offensive forces are being stepped up,” Aleksandr Volfovich stressed. “Mass media regularly talk about the creation of biological weapons.”
The state secretary of the Security Council pointed out that problems of ensuring information security and particularly cybersecurity are perceived differently now. Millions of outside cyberattacks against critical infrastructure and information resources of various countries are registered every year.
“The use of unmanned systems and complexes is now a widespread problems. They are used not only for civilian purposes but unfortunately military ones as well. Searching for ways to prevent their use by terrorists is becoming an ever urgent problem for security agencies,” Aleksandr Volfovich stated.
