Volfovich: Our focus is on the need to build multipolar relations

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) - We should move towards the development of a new architecture of international security based on the principles of law, justice and mutual consideration of the interests of all states, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security on 15 August, BelTA has learned.

“Over the years, the conference has become a traditional, recognizable and representative international forum. Today's edition is taking place in conditions of an unprecedentedly complex geopolitical situation, when any dialogue is more important than ever to reduce international tension. In this regard, there is no substitute for a direct constructive exchange of views between the heads of military departments of the world's leading states,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.

According to him, Belarus  is a regular participant of the forum. “This is of particular importance for us, given the approaches of our country to maintaining peace and security,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.

“The focus of our attention has always been on such issues as the need to build multipolar relations, ensure the indivisibility of security, stay committed to international obligations, and strengthen confidence-building measures between states. Together with allies and partners, we must move towards the development of a new international security architecture based on the principles of law, justice and mutual consideration of the interests of all states,” the state secretary said.

“I am particularly happy to see here our friends and like-minded people with whom we already have close bilateral relations on security issues. I am confident that today's meeting will contribute to joint progressive work in expanding the global substantive dialogue on all major issues of regional and international security,” the state secretary added.

Aleksandr Volfovich also read out the message of greetings from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the participants of the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security.
