MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – The current visit of a delegation of French MPs proves that inter-parliamentary contacts between Belarus and France are strengthening, Chairman of the permanent commission for international affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vitaly Busko said at a meeting with MPs from France on 7 July, BelTA has learned.
“Your current visit proves that our inter-parliamentary relations have been intensifying,” noted Vitaly Busko. In his words, the parliamentary groups of friendship are bridges that unite people and the economies of the two countries. “I would like to express gratitude to you and your country for the role France has played in the cancelation of restrictions and sanctions in respect to Belarus,” the MP added.
Vitaly Busko noted that the European track is now important for Belarus. “We sent invitations to monitor the parliamentary elections in Belarus to the PACE and OSCE PA where France plays an important role,” he said.
The MP recalled that the inter-parliamentary relations between Belarus and France have been through different stages. There were periods of no-contact and purely protocol communication. Now the relations have intensified.
Speaking about trade and economic relations, Vitaly Busko emphasized that the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union are not competitors but partners.
For his part, Nicolas Dhuicq thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome.
