MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – The things you want to do for the benefit of your country will definitely work out, the first cosmonaut of sovereign Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya said during a meeting with Speaker of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and members of the Presidium and Council of Elders of the Council of the Republic, BelTA has learned.
"I am very happy to be here today. It's really a great honor for me. I will be glad to share my impressions," Marina Vasilevskaya said. “The training was not easy. It took about 8 months. The space theme was new to me, but very interesting. Since I was a child, I dreamed of being a teacher. I love people, communication. I dreamed about it, but I never thought about space. It seemed unreal. When I joined Belavia, I found the job I love. I felt at ease."
According to her, it was not easy, but obstacles always push you to move forward. "You should always strive for more. Then everything will really work out," the cosmonaut said. “Thoughts are material. If you think about good things, if you want to do something for the good of your country, everything will work out. I went through all the stages of training, the medical examination was very thorough. I am grateful to my parents for such genes and health. I lead a healthy lifestyle and always work out."
Marina Vasilevskaya stressed that space won her over. "We had a very good team, very good cosmonauts. We became friends," she added. "I'm very glad that I felt good at all stages."
