MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – The universities of Belarus and India need to expand their cooperation, Rector of the Belarusian State University (BSU) Sergei Ablameiko told journalists on 3 June, BelTA has learned.
Being a mathematician and an information technology specialist, I am aware of the strengths of Indian programmers. We should actively develop cooperation with Indian universities, especially with those training IT specialists, as both Belarus and India have huge potential in this area, Sergei Ablameiko noted.
He said that the cooperation between Belarusian and Indian universities is gradually expanding. “It is not very easy. Both the geographical distance and the language barrier create certain difficulties. Russian is the language of instruction in Belarus, while in India this role is performed mostly by English. We also have students from India in the BSU. We regularly organize exchanges. Our teachers go to India, while Indian professors come to Belarus and give lectures, conduct joint research. However, we also need to intensify cooperation with our Indian colleagues,” Sergei Ablameiko believes.
The BSU has cooperation agreements with several Indian universities.
