MOSCOW, 8 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ dairy supplies to Russia will certainly be discussed at the forthcoming session of the Union State Council of Ministers due to take place on 13 June, BelTA learnt from State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota.
“This issue will undoubtedly be raised,” Grigory Rapota said answering a question whether the dairy topic will be on the agenda of the Union State Council of Ministers session.
He noted that the ban on the import of several kinds of Belarusian dairy products to Russia introduced by the Russian food quality watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor on 6 June was discussed at the session of the High-Level Group of the Union State Council of Ministers in Moscow on 7 June. The parties sought to determine whether such actions of Russia can be treated as violation of existing agreements within the framework of the Union State.
“I do not want to run ahead. The agriculture ministers have met today. I do not know the details of their discussion. The vice-premiers are set to meet tomorrow. Maybe, this meeting will reveal possible developments in this area. I am optimistic about this matter, at least today’s discussion gives us hope that we will get rid of these unnecessary complications in our relations,” Grigory Rapota concluded.
