MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey can considerably increase mutual trade through joint companies, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich told the media on the sidelines of the Belarusian-Turkish economic symposium Improving Economic Relations between Turkey and Belarus on 9 November, BelTA has learned.
“The trade between Belarus and Turkey was about $1 billion in 2016. I believe we can increase it significantly not only through the development of commodity exports but also through the development of new technologies, the implementation of big investment projects, and industrial cooperation. Talks are almost over on setting up joint ventures with Gomselmash, MAZ, and Amkodor,” noted Vladimir Ulakhovich.
In his words, the markets of the two countries are huge. “What is more important is that we can enter the market of the Eurasian Economic Union and also the countries with which Turkey has a free trade zone with joint products. These are mainly neighboring states of the Middle East and North Africa,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.
The chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that Belarus also invites Turkish businessmen to benefit from the preferential regimes of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone, the Hi-Tech Park and free economic zones.
