MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) – Great Britain highly values Belarus’ commitment to finding a way to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine. This statement was made by Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Belarus John Whittingdale as he met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich on 28 May, BelTA has learnt.
“We highly value the role played by Belarus in advancing peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine,” John Whittingdale said. He is member of the OSCE PA and the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union. He added that UK’s MPs closely follow the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, while Belarus is member of the OSCE Minsk Group that spearheads the OSCE's efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Mikhail Myasnikovich reminded that Belarus seeks to build up mutual trust and reduce tensions in Europe and the world. “We are investing a lot of effort in it,” he noted. One of the examples is the recent international forum “Eastern Europe: In Search of Security for All” attended by Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko.
