LOGOISK DISTRICT, 23 March (BelTA) - The world still knows little about the Belarusians’ sufferings during the war, UK Ambassador to Belarus Jacqueline Perkins told the media as she, along with other diplomats and senior officials of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in the commemorative events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy on 22 March, BelTA has learned.
“I was really grateful and happy to be invited today to attend this very important ceremony. It underscores our common history, common suffering. The world still lacks the knowledge about the trials and sufferings that fell to the people of Belarus during the war,” the diplomat said.
“It is a great honor for me to be able to come here to show my support, to show my sadness and regret for the events that took place in Belarus. I hope that our relationship can improve based on the shared history and memory of the shared suffering that both countries endured during the war,” Jacqueline Perkins added.
