MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) - Turkey expects the trade with Belarus to increase to $1 billion, Turkey’s Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Faruk Ozlu said at the Turkish-Belarusian Innovation Forum in Minsk on 14 December, BelTA has learned.
“The trade between Belarus and Turkey is currently $600 million. We hope that the trade between our countries will reach $1 billion,” Faruk Ozlu noted.
Turkey attaches great importance to the development of innovative technologies and their application in industry. “Bilateral relations have been developing rapidly and intensively. The interest of Turkish companies in Belarus is growing. In addition to trade, we have a great potential for cooperation in industry, science and technology. We have already discussed these matters with the Belarusian Industry Minister. Our businessmen will have a meeting today and, I hope, will lay down the foundation for the development of cooperation,” the minister noted.
Belarus-Turkey Innovation Forum is hosted by the BNTU’s technopark Polytechnic. The forum aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in such areas as construction and real estate, energy, woodworking, chemical industry, transport and logistics, information technology. Attending the forum are representatives of public authorities in the field of science, innovation and industry, and also representatives of innovative structures of the two countries, resident companies of the science and technology parks and free economic zones.
The forum has been organized by the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology of Turkey, the scientific-technological park BNTU’s technopark Polytechnic, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.
