Turchin: New Year should rejoice every child

LOGOISK, 27 December (BelTA) – Each child should have a sense of joy during New Year holidays, and the charity campaign Our Children gives an opportunity to fulfill children’s wishes, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin told reporters as he visited a family-type children’s home in Logoisk, BelTA has learned.

According to Alexander Turchin, it has become a good tradition for him to visit family-type children’s homes. He believes that it is important to promote this form of care of parentless children. “The most important thing is to give a child a home, a mother and a father and this is the objective of the state,” he emphasized.

The visitors had chosen the gifts meticulously; smiles and happy faces suggested that the gifts were to the children’s liking. The girls got a fairytale house, dolls and phones, while boys received a railway, a bicycle and a construction set. “Wow! That is what I have been dreaming of for a long time,” said little Maxim. He was overwhelmed with emotions as he was examining his new toys.

The eldest child in the family, seventh-grader Valery, is fond of sports; he is part of a local ski-race team. He was given a ski outfit for better results. The hosts of the family-type children’s home got a rotary cultivator.

Alexander Turchin wished the children Happy New Year also on behalf of the Business Promotion Council. He said that the charity campaign was actively supported by the Belarusian business community. “We knew what the children wanted and tried to fulfill their wishes. I think we have managed to do that. Such events arouse positive emotions and offer an opportunity to share your positive vibe with children,” he added.

Deputy Chairman of the Business Promotion Council (chairman of the board of the Tabak-Invest company) Pavel Topuzidis noted that he was raised in a big family. He said that it makes him happy to fulfill children’s wishes.

Ten children of various ages live in the family-type children’s home in Logoisk. The youngest – Danik and Sofia – are three and four years old. Their parents shared the secrets of family happiness. “The entire family takes part in New Year preparations. We also have another four grownup children who already have families of their own. Some have been with us for ten years already. All of them are kind-hearted and tender, the best kids in the world. They love their family; they are at home here, with their mother and dad. Our home is their home,” they said.
