Til Schweiger speaks about his first visit to Belarus in press conference

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – At a press conference in Minsk in the follow-up to the filming of a commercial featuring famous international drifters and Belarusian champions, German actor and filmmaker Til Schweiger shared impressions of his first visit to Belarus, the filming process and his thoughts, BelTA has learned.

“I like Belarusian food, people and how they treat each other. I was especially touched by the warm welcome here. I feel like I was born again, because they even provided me with a doctor who helped me with vitamins. Now I feel energetic and fresh,” the actor noted.

Til Schweiger remarked that this was his first visit to Belarus, although he had been to Moscow at least ten times. “I have heard only very good things about your country,” he said.

Speaking about the filming, the actor noted that he just could not get enough of the process. “We had a lot of real drifting. I think the audience will definitely like what they will see on the screens. The script of this project is amazing, the commercial is full of action, and this gave me so much thrill. Drifting is dangerous, but very exciting,” he noted.

Til Schweiger added that he had already had experience of drifting in Finland, which helped him prepare for the filming in Belarus. “It's a cool experiment - to use all your skills on the screen,” he noted.

The actor also spoke about his plans and projects: “I will make a commercial that will be followed by a full-fledged film, and in the future I am going to shoot a series about survival in Germany.”

At the end of the meeting, Til Schweiger gave advice to those who are searching for themselves: “Follow your dreams and be happy for others. If you are selfish and cannot sincerely feel happy for the successes of others, this will only destroy you.”

The shooting of the drift promo video in Belarus took about two weeks. Taking part in the project were drift pilots from Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, Thailand and Brazil. They were invited by the international company Blockchain Sports Ecosystem and the company Drift Labs in partnership with X-Labs inc, a resident of Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park. The pilots visited the regional centers, namely Brest, Gomel, Mogilev, and Grodno. The video will feature the country’s landmarks, including the Puslovskys Palace in Kosovo and Nesvizh Castle.
