MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – The Swedish army representative Thomas Moller, who observed the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017, praised the smooth organization of the wargames, BelTA has learned.
Thomas Moller took part in several observation missions before coming to Belarus. In Belarus everything is organized in an excellent manner, he remarked. He went on saying that during the exercise he had been able to receive all the necessary information.
Asked whether the Zapad 2017 exercise is a threat, the observer made it clear he had seen nothing like that. “Such an army exercise is a routine matter. It is something practiced in many countries, including Sweden, Netherlands, Belarus or Russia,” he said.
While in Belarus Thomas Moller has been able to visit several army exercise areas, including the Borisovsky exercise area where President of Belarus and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko watched the exercise on 20 September. The Swedish observer said that he had been impressed by what he saw during the exercise and by the level of organization.
