MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian society of friendship and cultural ties with foreign countries makes a huge contribution to strengthening cooperation with China, Counselor at the Chinese embassy in Belarus Sun Hongzhu said at a meeting in the House of Friendship on 12 November which was dedicated to the Chinese capital Beijing, BelTA informs.
The diplomat believes that the public diplomacy promotes closer ties between the people of Belarus and China. The Counselor emphasized Belarus’ big interest in the Chinese culture and history. This time the main guests in the House of Friendship were students of the Minsk State Linguistic University and its Confucius Institute. Perhaps very soon some of them will devote life to the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation and will go to Beijing for internship and improving their Chinese language skills.
According to host of the evening, Deputy Chairwoman of the Belarusian society of friendship and cultural ties with foreign countries, Deputy Chairwoman of the Belarus-China Friendship Society Alina Grishkevich, the ancient and modern China perfectly blends in Beijing. She familiarized the guests with the main places of interest in the Chinese capital, including Tiananmen Square, the Imperial Palace also known as the Forbidden City Gugong, and the State Opera Theater of Beijing.
The event was organized by the Belarus-China Friendship Society. This organization is almost 60 years old despite the fact that the Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations are much younger. They were established 23 years ago. Performing at the event were Chinese students that study in Belarusian universities.
