MOSCOW, 22 December (BelTA) – The Belarus-Russia Union State Treaty defines independence and sovereignty as steadfast principles, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko told the media on 21 December, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Andreichenko, the issue of approximation of laws of the Union State member states is considered at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the State Union of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 21-22 December. “Much has been already done in this regard. We have made considerable progress in terms of integration. However, a lot remains to be done. If we take a look at the treaty of 1999 [on the creation of the Union State], we will see that a series of issues have been fully solved and some others are at the stage of implementation. Some of them, in my opinion, will be impossible to implement because the situation has changed. The Eurasian Economic Union has been set up. Therefore, our firm principles, and this is defined in the Union State Treaty, are independence and sovereignty,” said the speaker of the House of Representatives.
