MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) - Belarus' livestock production may demonstrate significant growth in 2018-2019, Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats told the media on 26 April following the government session hosted by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to discuss fire safety and maintenance of agricultural equipment in the country, BelTA has learned.
“This year we have every chance to apply more mineral fertilizers, sow more permanent grasses, stock more fodder for the cattle so that the country could see a growth in its agricultural sector in the current and subsequent years. I am confident that this industry will make the basis for the country's good economic performance,” said Leonid Zayats.
According to the minister, there are plans to complete the spring grain sowing campaign in Belarus before 1 May. “Little time is left. A lot is still to be done. Every day should be used maximum efficiency,” he said.
The focus will also be on the safety of material and technical property of agricultural companies.
