MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) – Minsk is the most convenient platform for the dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, Mikhail Shvydkoi, the Russian President’s special envoy for international cultural cooperation, told journalists during the conference Science and Culture in Modern Discourse on 2 December, BelTA has learned.
“Minsk has become a platform for discussing international political issues. When we were choosing the host city for the conference, we came to a conclusion that Minsk is the most convenient platform for a dialogue between scientists, cultural workers, and education specialists,” Mikhail Shvydkoi said.
He noted that the conference brought together intellectuals from three countries. They will not analyze past events, but rather try to figure out what to do in the future. “We often say that politicians make all the decisions. Indeed, they decide a lot. But the relations between the peoples are so deep that sometimes political decisions do not penetrate people’s life,” he pointed out.
Minsk is hosting the conference Science and Culture in Modern Discourse on 2 December. Partaking in the forum are Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian experts. The event has been organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences, the State Institute for International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Institute for Eurasian Studies with the support of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.
