Shestakov: No chaos in Belarus during 25 years of independence

MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) – During the 25 years of independence, Belarus has managed to shield itself from the chaos from the outside, Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov said during the international conference “25 Years Without USSR: Where Do Post-Soviet Trajectories Lead?”.

The diplomat noted that Belarus is the only country in the EU Eastern Partnership who has happily avoided being dragged in wars and conflicts.

“In the time of tectonic transformations, we have managed to protect the country from chaos, preserve security and stability in the society,” Evgeny Shestakov said.

Over the past 25 years, Belarus has grown into a successful state that maintains mutually beneficial cooperation with almost all members of the international community. The deputy minister stressed that 25 years ago, all post-Soviet countries were facing the same conditions.
