MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – China and Belarus make every effort for successful development. The statement was made by Deputy Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Shen Yueyue during an event held in the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries on 3 April, BelTA has learned.
Shen Yueyue remarked that just like China Belarus has survived all the hardships and trials in the course of its history. “China and Belarus have survived multiple hardships and now make every effort for successful development,” she said. “We treasure and appreciate today's peaceful life and our accomplishments, for which we’ve paid dearly.”
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk underlined that the Belarusian nation takes pride in friendship with the Chinese nation. “China builds relations with all countries on the basis of equality and respect,” the deputy head of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament noted. “Friendship with China is a strategic direction in Belarus’ foreign policy. Without a doubt it has been achieved thanks to the leaders of the two countries, who set high standards of cooperation at all levels, including the parliamentary one. As a result, our countries have established the highest level of bilateral relations – trustful strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation across the board.”
Belarus and China have set up working groups on interparliamentary cooperation. “We have regular meetings both in Belarus and China. We vigorously share the best practices and exchange opinions about matters of interest. At the same time we never have differences of opinion about key items on the bilateral agenda and the international one,” Boleslav Pirshtuk said.
Boleslav Pirshtuk is the head of the Belarusian parliament’s working group on cooperation with the Chinese parliament. He said he was confident that the current visit would make a substantial contribution to the advancement of the Belarusian-Chinese interparliamentary dialogue. In his opinion, it is crucial to the implementation of the large-scale tasks set by the two heads of state in all spheres starting with politics and ending with humanitarian cooperation. “Our key task is to raise living standards and quality of life of the people. The accomplishment of this task depends largely on the implementation of China’s Belt and Road initiative, which opens new horizons of economic development and already produces tangible results,” Boleslav Pirshtuk concluded.
