MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – The services sector is one of the biggest contributors to the GDP growth in Belarus, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Business Promotion Council Alexander Turchin said at the session of the council on 22 June, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Turchin recalled that the goal is to double the GDP. “Business and government bodies must move in the same direction. A very serious task has been set. One of the major drivers of this growth is the services sector. Others are IT sector, transport and logistics industry. Customs regulation has a role to play whether economic entities, both Belarusian and foreign ones, feel comfortable crossing the territory of our country," he said.
The Business Promotion Council meeting is attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky, Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Kiyko, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Sergei Poluden and others. Among the topics on the agenda are the adjustment of customs value of goods, the settlement of VAT and recovery of penalties from customs representatives. Experts will also discuss a proposal to improve the international system of customs transit and guarantees.
