Sergeyenko: Attempts to isolate Belarus internationally are failing

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – All attempts to isolate Belarus on the world stage are failing, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said at the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“In a tough fight we have defended the right of the Belarusian people to shape their own future, and time has proven us right. Amidst unprecedented sanctions, we continue to demonstrate our economic viability and competitiveness. Belarus’ economic growth is higher than the world average, and this allows our people to live decent lives and have jobs, support their families; it also allows the state to fulfill its social commitments and strengthen national security. It is also important to point out that all attempts by supporters of the so-called rules-based order to isolate us on the world stage are failing,” he speaker noted.

Belarus has become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The country has recently received the official status of a BRICS partner, thereby confirming its compliance with the standards and criteria of this organization, the speaker emphasized. “These authoritative international associations have a real impact on shaping a new image of the planet. Therefore, more and more countries of the global majority pin their hopes on them,” he said.

“It is very important that they view Belarus as an equal participant in a common cause, which is the creation of a world order based on equality, mutual respect and effective economic cooperation. It is no coincidence that Minsk has again become relevant as a dialogue platform to discuss security issues,” Igor Sergeyenko emphasized.
