MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus boasts the most efficient power engineering in the post-Soviet space, Deputy Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko has told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Semashko, when the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) becomes operational, the energy generation cost in Belarus will be lower than that in the Russian Federation, for example. Compared with the other post-Soviet countries, Belarus boasts the most efficient electrical engineering industry and the lowest [energy] consumption, Vladimir Semashko added. After the commissioning of the BelNPP, Belarus will be able to sell the excess of electric energy on the Eurasian market without obstacles. More than that, western countries want to have a closer look at the nuclear power plant. Talks are underway.
