Science expected to contribute to utility sector development

Science expected to contribute to utility sector development

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) - Belarusian scientists should take an active part in the development of the housing and utility sector, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at the nationwide seminar on the improvement and development of the Belarusian housing and utility sector, BelTA has learned.

You cannot do without science in any industry. Housing and utilities is no exception in this regard. Yet, science has not been involved in this process for many years. In fact, utilities specialists tackle problems by guess relying on their personal experience. It's not bad, but science must push us forward and suggest us ways we should go,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president stressed that the processes that are taking place in the utility sector today, should not be spontaneous. Every step should be scrutinized. “We cannot afford wasting money on dubious experiments. Managers should understand that they will be held responsible for every budgetary ruble invested in projects,” the head of state said.

Our major asset is people, highly-qualified personnel. I cannot understand why the best of them, I mean our scientists, are not involved in the development of the utility sector. This applies to every area, including the tariff policy, finances and technical events. Why not launch joint projects? Why not use companies as experimental scientific sites?” Alexander Lukashenko wondered.
