MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Preparations for the 2018 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup have been on schedule, without major issues, Chairman of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Maksim Ryzhenkov told a press conference in BelTA’s press center.
“Almost all issues have been settled regarding catering, accommodation of teams, referees, officials representatives of the FIBA and fans. Now we are putting the finishing touches,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said. He also said that the upcoming Semyon Khalipsky tournament in Minsk will become a test before the World Cup. We will work out all technical, transportation, medical and other issues to make sure the World Cup will run as smoothly as possible. With regard to the sporting aspect, Team Belarus are as good as their peers from other countries. The main thing is to get into th espirit and play to the top of their abilities in every match,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
Minsk got the right to host the 2018 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup at the FIBA Congress in May 2017. The tournament is scheduled to run at the Minsk Palace of Sports and Falcon Club from 21 to 29 July 2018.
