MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – The Belarusians hold books in high regard, First Deputy Head of Belarus’ President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov said at the opening of the 25th edition of the Minsk International Book Fair, BelTA has learned.
The 25th installment of the Minsk book fair has become a true celebration of the book featuring publishers from 32 countries, Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
He also read out a message of greetings from the Belarusian president to the participants and guests of the forum.
Belarus’ Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich said that during the fair the exhibitors will talk about the new books and the cooperation with Belarus. Last year the Belarusian publishers issued about 10,000 titles of books and this testifies to the attention of the state and the society to this issue. It is imossible without the joint efforts of the state and all publishers of various forms of ownership.
The Year of Native Land theme and international cooperation of Belarusian writers with men of letters from different countries are in the limelight of the 25th Minsk International Book Fair. Taking part in the event are 360 exhibitors from 32 countries. The Guest of Honor is Serbia. The central exhibitor is Kazakhstan. The organizers are the Information Ministry of Belarus, the Minsk City Hall, and the book selling companies Belkniga and Makbel. Entry is free.
