MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) - The Belarus-Russia Union State performs a very important foreign policy function, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission on International Affairs, Migration Policy and Relations with Compatriots, Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov said during a video bridge Minsk-Moscow, marking the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Union State Treaty, BelTA has learned.
“The Union State is not only an internal political project of Belarus and Russia. It also fulfills a very important foreign policy function and is unique in terms of international law and international relations. Today the Union State is visible in the international arena, participates in the formation of a new world order, building a multipolar world,” Sergei Rachkov said.
According to him, the Union State allowed Belarus and Russia to unite even more and resist the illegal sanctions pressure from the Western countries. “Thanks to this unity, we have managed to solve a lot of economic problems. Trade between our countries has increased significantly. The services sector and investment cooperation continue to develop very actively,” the MP emphasized.
“In fact, the Union State is becoming a certain alternative to Western integration models,” Sergei Rachkov added.
