ST. PETERSBURG, 26 December (BelTA) – President of Russia Vladimir Putin has thanked Belarus for the successful organization and hosting of the 2nd CIS Games. Vladimir Putin made the relevant statement at an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS states in St. Petersburg, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Putin said: “Physical culture and sport also represent an inalienable component of humanitarian cooperation. I would like to thank our Belarusian colleagues for the successful organization and hosting of the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus in August.”
The Russian leader noted that innovative games of the future will take place in the Russian city of Kazan in February 2024. “It will embrace a new format of sport events Russia has suggested. It combines the most dynamic sports and cyber sport,” the president explained.
Vladimir Putin invited all the leaders to attend the solemn opening ceremony of these games as honorary guests in Kazan on 21 February 2024.
