MOSCOW, 2 April (BelTA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a telegram of greetings to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko as the two countries celebrate the Unity Day of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia on 2 April, BelTA learnt from the Kremlin press service.
The Russian head of state took note of successful development of relations between the two countries based on the traditions of friendship, spiritual and cultural bonds that have united Russians and Belarusians for a long time. Vladimir Putin also underlined the importance of the Union State as a mechanism of bilateral cooperation, which experience was widely used in the establishment of a bigger integration organization, the Eurasian Economic Union.
“The Russian President praised the results of the Union State Supreme State Council meeting in Moscow on 3 March and expressed confidence that the implementation of the agreements will contribute towards further expansion of the Belarusian-Russian all-round cooperation, coordinating the efforts in the foreign policy, defense and security for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries and strengthening the stability and security in the Eurasian space,” the Kremlin press service said.
