MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Victory Day will always be a dear holiday for Belarusians, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov, who took part in the wreath-laying ceremony near the Victory Monument in Minsk on 9 May.
Andrei Kobyakov stressed that the victory in the Great Patriotic War primarily means memory and the lessons that the current generations should learn. “Those, who forget about it, let bad things happen. We cannot allow it,” said the Prime Minister. “We will always celebrate 9 May as our own holiday. Nobody will take it away from us.”
Memory about the Great Patriotic War, its heroes and sacrifices should be passed on from generation to generation. Forgetfulness can only bring new wars and civil discord with human casualties, reminded Andrei Kobyakov. “We must always remember the victory, the losses, the immense human effort required to secure this victory,” the Prime Minister was convinced.
