DUBAI, 1 December (BelTA) – Serbia President Aleksandar Vucic told reporters what he and Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko had discussed on the sidelines of the 28th conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, BelTA has learned.

The leaders of Belarus and Serbia had a brief meeting “on foot” on the sidelines of the climate change summit as it usually happens during large-scale forums. Aleksandar Vucic shared some details of the conversation with Belarusian reporters.

The Serbia president said: “We discussed our bilateral relations. I told him that I hope we will soon be able to organize his visit to Serbia next year. We will have elections in 15-16 days. After that, I hope that next year we will be able to invite him and discuss all the main items on the bilateral agenda.”

BelTA reported earlier that in November Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Belarus’ new ambassador to Serbia. Speaking about cooperation between the countries and the work of the Belarusian diplomatic mission, the president remarked that it is necessary to take a serious look at the situation. “We need to wrap our heads around the policy that Serbia is pursuing and plans to pursue in relation to Belarus. If they want [to cooperate with Belarus], then we should see results of this cooperation in the trade and economic dimension. If they want to wag the tail, to put it bluntly, and support European and American sanctions against Belarus, this is their business. They should make up their mind and support [the sanctions] if they have forgotten our kindness towards them,” the head of state said.
