MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko thanked Belarus for the first steps towards security in Ukraine as he attended the Munich Security Conference. The relevant information was broadcast in the news round-up program Nedelya on the STV TV Channel, BelTA has learned.
“I would like to congratulate Minsk on becoming a venue for important international events as a result of the agreements with President Alexander Lukashenko,” Petro Poroshenko said.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that Belarus cannot be indifferent to what is happening in Ukraine. “I am confident that Belarus’ role is very important. This country wants to see a politically and economically stable Ukraine, as the destabilization of the situation may affect the entire region. In this context, Belarus is making maximum effort to facilitate the normalization of the situation,” he said.
U.S. Senator John McCain also praised Belarus’ role in the efforts to settle the Ukrainian conflict. “It is commendable that Belarusian authorities contribute to the promotion of the peace settlement in Ukraine,” he pointed out.
