MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – Political contacts between Belarus and Poland are on the rise. Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko made the statement as he met with Marshal of the Senate of Poland Stanislaw Karczewski in the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament on 5 December, BelTA has learned.
“Our political contacts, including parliamentary ones, have been on the rise recently,” said Vladimir Andreichenko. In particular, Vice Marshal of the Sejm of Poland Ryszard Terlecki has been to Belarus on a visit. The visit was very constructive and productive.
The head of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament noted that constructive and good neighborly relations with Poland have always been and will remain a high priority for Belarus. The Belarusian side appreciates the positive tendencies that have been seen recently in the advancement of cooperation between Belarus and Poland and between the two parliaments. “We believe that we have neglected a lot in the development of our cooperation, including in tourism, in human relations, in the development of transboundary cooperation, trade, economic, and investment cooperation. This visit will give a new additional impulse to our relations,” Vladimir Andreichenko was convinced.
Members of the parliament should be more actively involved in matters of trade and economic relations, believes Vladimir Andreichenko. The participation of Belarusian and Polish MPs in the work of the Belarusian-Polish commission on trade and economic cooperation was suggested as a possible option.
Vladimir Andreichenko noted that the composition of the Belarusian parliament’s group on friendship with Poland will be renewed soon because a new parliament has started working in Belarus.
