MOGILEV, 25 March (BelTA) – The international theater forum M@rt.contact is a reflection of modern theater trends, Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw, Candidate of Philology, theater critic and translator Andrei Moskvin told BelTA.
“I am a professor, so it is interesting for me to observe development processes, especially theatrical ones. The organizers of M@rt.contact always try to include in the festival program only the best, the newest, and the most worthy theatrical productions from different countries. At the same time, some of the productions that the participants of the forum choose to perform have certain social and political implications,” Andrei Moskvin noted.
He pointed out that he likes visiting Mogilev. The critic believes it is a good opportunity to keep contact with the Belarusian cultural and theatrical life.
As for his personal preferences, Andrei Moskvin noted that he would also like to see Belarusian theatrical works with a kind of national coloring. “I would like to see more of such productions at the festival. Your actors and directors do not often use elements of the Belarusian culture in their works. I have always been wondering why local theaters do not present beautiful Belarusian traditions to the audience,” Andrei Moskvin said.
Mogilev has been playing host to the Tenth International Youth Theater Forum M@rt.contact starting from 21 March. The festival has gathered young and talented actors and directors from Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Lithuania, Israel, and Germany. The program of the festival features 19 productions, 12 of them have already been presented to the audience. The results of the forum will be announced on the World Theater Day, 27 March.
The m@rt.contact international forum was founded by the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, the main department for ideology, culture, and youth affairs of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, and the Mogilev Regional Drama Theater.
