MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – An extensive document on improving Belarus’ social and economic policy is about to be submitted to the head of state, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.
“The collective West is likely to scale up its bans and restrictions. For almost a month now, we have been working in a new environment, amidst a gradual economic blockade by the collective West of our country and our main ally and foreign trade partner, the Russian Federation. It is important to adapt to the new conditions as quickly as possible, mitigate the impact on the economy and minimize damage,” Roman Golovchenko said.
He emphasized that the government has switched to a mobilization mode of operation. The operational team convenes every day to discuss emerging issues and work out solutions to be implemented in the form of regulatory legal acts and instructions. “Comprehensive systemic measures are also being developed. For the sake of efficiency, we break them into packages. As you know, Decree No. 93 on the support for the economy has already been adopted. The Finance Ministry is developing a plan to implement it. Today we will consider proposals for the next package of systemic and sectoral measures. The most extensive document on improving social and economic policy at the present stage is on its homestretch and will soon be submitted to the head of state,” the prime minister noted.
In January-February 2022, Belarus’ GDP went up by 1.2%; growth was posted across virtually all the areas. Real incomes and real wages remained on the growth track, too.
